Drinking water and sanitation, access to clean water and adequate sanitation remains an elusive goal for the remote communities of Egypt's rural south – our ongoing main project.

Our project WASH (Water, Sanitation and Health) is to supply safe drinking water and sanitation for the neediest households in villages in Beni Sweif. Special emphasis is placed on targeting female-headed households, households with elderly or disabled members, big families in cramped spaces, and those belonging to traditionally marginalized or underserved groups.

The current project work in 2023 is focusing on new water installations, sinks and latrines. In February 2023 a delegation of RCCC has visited the project and supervised the progress in Kafr Darweesh Village. Additionally to the water related help, our club took the opportunity to plant several olive trees.

Our club introduced Biogas units to the community; a new technology that properly eliminates waste in an energy efficient way as well as producing organic fertilizer. The biogas environmental friendly units also contribute to a cleaner environment. We encourage similar communities in Upper Egypt to install this technology. Find more detailed information on WASH project here.
