WASH — water, sanitation and hygiene

Clean water and safe sanitation for Egyptian communities that have gone without both for far too long.

Access to clean water is the foundation everything else rests on. A child who spends the morning carrying water is not in a classroom. A clinic without safe sanitation cannot keep patients well. The club works with local partners to install and maintain water and sanitation infrastructure where it is needed most.

What the project delivers

Installation of clean water points, rehabilitation of sanitation facilities, and hygiene education so that the infrastructure keeps working long after the ribbon is cut. Maintenance training for local operators is built into every installation.

Why it matters

Water, sanitation and hygiene is one of Rotary International’s seven areas of focus, and one where a modest, well-targeted grant produces measurable and lasting change.
